The Deming Gateway Building consists of science labs, a nursing suite, general classrooms and multi-purpose spaces (i.e., community classes). Our design aspires to meet the diverse functions of a single building on a new campus - academic support, recreational opportunities, and community outreach.

The Gateway building also maximizes the possibility of indoor / outdoor education. The design includes exterior spaces that work as spill-out for co-located interior rooms, including the science lab and “experiment deck” on level two, an advising patio at the entry, and general use outdoor classrooms such as the shaded sunken plaza classroom. Shade from several large PV canopies, vine walls, misters, low velocity exterior fans, and integrated technology will support an initial 3-phase program of approximately 25,000SF.

This completes Phase 1 of the new 40-acre WNMU Deming campus, which SSA completed the masterplan for in 2020.
