International Indoor Soccer Arena
Albuquerque, NM • 2012
The 18,000 sf International Indoor Soccer Arena fronts the street with a dramatic, active and social presence prioritizing landscape and color. Built on a sloped brownfield site, the sloping topography was accommodated with an elevated entry plaza, shade trees and a large trellis to define the entry and shade a future dining patio.
A required clear span of nearly 100’ for the soccer field and a limited budget necessitated a pre-engineered metal building to cover the 75’ x 150’ field. Structure and finish materials are low maintenance ‘off the shelf’ products including plywood wall panels, acoustic metal deck, stucco walls inside and out and sealed exposed concrete floors. The primary challenges included a compressed construction schedule, a 7’0” slope across the site and the site development requirements.
Project Successes: The investment in a custom-designed exciting arena has enabled the business to confidently grow and position themselves as the premier location for indoor soccer in the state. The Arena has been busy since it opened, providing an easily accessible facility with a naturally lit field, ample parking, room for team queuing, a centrally located staff/help desk and visitor amenities.
