Insight Cabinet Shop

A renovation/addition of the former Fruit Basket (formerly convenience store) located at the SW corner of 12th Street and Aztec which includes overall mechanical, electrical, and fire protection upgrades, specialized fabrication equipment and ventilation to facilitate the day-to-day industrial activities of an cabinet fabrication shop.

Doubling the existing square footage and ceiling height, creates a large, open shop concept with a ‘partition’ of center offices, breakroom, bathroom, and mezzanine for storage of materials. This partition is flanked by woodworking and steel shops with large rolling overhead doors, allowing dedicated space and spill-out for each workshop - meaning multiple project builds can occur simultaneously and shared center elements are easily accessible by both shops.

This project makes an effort to be ecologically conscious by creating a native plant garden fed by rainwater runoff on the site, repurposing existing gluelam beams and materials from other jobsites, and using simple, low-cost and readily available materials that require little or no maintenance
