Harlan Hall Lab Renovation

Western New Mexico University (WNMU) Renovation/Addition Silver City, NM 2021


This 30,000SF project focused of the renovation of the 1960’s WNMU Harlan Hall Lab & Classroom. The work consisted of full system and life safety upgrades for the 2-story building, including full mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and new fire suppression systems for (7) science labs (general biology, geology, zoology/botany, research, chemistry, instrumental, and organic labs) and (3) multi-purpose lecture halls.

Lab upgrades consisted of the replacement of all existing fume hoods and lab exhaust stacks, in addition to replacing ceilings tiles , light fixtures, and fire protection systems. This renovation was designed to be LEED certified and incorporates approximately $1M of upgrades by an ESCO (Energy Service Company) to meet WNMU sustainability goals.
