CNM Shade Structures

Located at the CNM Main Campus in Albuquerque, NM, the Shade Structures are designed to facilitate shaded outdoor learning classrooms for CNM students.
Both the TM and EC canopies are built onto existing amphitheaters and take the existing conditions into account. Canopy structures are designed to maximize seating area and views by minimizing the number of columns required and avoiding new columns landing on the existing amphitheater while shading existing seating areas.
The structure features a diagrid frame that utilizes its inherent three-dimensional shell behavior to achieve long slender spans across a curved profile.
