Swan / Calder

The Swan-Calder project consists of two additions totalling 1450sf and various renovations to the existing home. A new master suite was added as a pseudo-free-standing box surrounded by garden, it is connected to the existing house by a glass passage. The bedroom opens out onto a small private garden framed by a wall of operable glazing. The bathroom opens both onto a loosely enclosed outdoor shower and to a second garden to the south. New glazing in the existing kitchen and sitting rooms offer different perspectives onto a shared landscape. High clerestory bring North light into the bedroom while maintaining privacy from the more public area of the back yard.
