North Valley House

Albuquerque, NM In Construction

Nestled between the Griegos drainage ditch and the local Acequia, The North Valley House is heavily inspired by the natural features of the site and surrounding landscape. Located just minutes from the Rio Grande, the home was also designed with responsible water usage at the forefront. The project makes use of local materials, particularly in the large rammed earth wall which distinguishes the living and kitchen wing from the office and bedrooms.

The centrally enclosed courtyard unites the home around an outdoor space which can be viewed from the glass enclosed passage from the front end of the house to the other. Large trees which exist on the site will be maintained, as water retention ponds around the home ensure access to water resources for the native plantings. Private patios create secluded and private spaces outside of the home. This project also features a direct gravity fed grey water drainage system to irrigate plantings on the site.
